AMDphreak is a combination of "AMD" and "phreak". AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) is a CPU engineering design company. I took a liking to AMD in the early 2000s, because they were the underdog in the industry. "Phreak" is a contraction of "phone freak", a term for phone hackers from the 1980s who explored the hidden secrets of the telephone systems of the 1980s and 90s.
